Did race play a factor in the presidential election?

Before the last election, a lot of people were of the opinion that the U.S. would never elect an African American president. Now two MIT professors have shown that Obama did not win in spite of his race, he won because of it. Our new president won 10 million more votes than John Kerry did in 2004: 4.3 million came from African Americans, 2.3 million from Latinos, and 1 million from whites.
